The sunrise was especially beautiful this morning; I got this shot before there was too much activity around the camp.
After breakfast we packed up our canoes and paddled down the river a bit.
At milepost 46.7 also known as the Little Sandy Creek section we got out of our canoes and hiked up to the top and found the remains of Indian Teepee Rings and a terrific view of the river valley.
We also hiked up to the top of Decision Point, the place where Lewis and Clark weren't sure which of the two rivers was the real Missouri. It took many days of scouting and determination but they concluded that the right-handed one was the real Missouri (that was the correct decision) and they were able to continue with their mission. The other river was named the Marias River.
Along the trail to the top we found this metal art...I think it is butterflies
Here is a shot of Chuck I was able to take by turning around in the canoe while we were paddling (without tipping it over!)
Greg, our guide, had both of his children along for the trip. In the picture below the older one at 5 years took an unexpected dip in the river. What fun!
