The Lord’s Prayer
Our father who art in Heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done, on earth as it is Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
Forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
Amen
Every day the prayer is different
Our father
Our Father, I always wonder about that one. Why Our? Why not My? Is it because we are all in this thing together, we are not islands? We may be alone when we pray, but we should understand that we are always connected to all living things.
who art in Heaven
This must be your command post-- the headquarters of your operations. A place we mortals cannot go to visit. It is important that I be able to visualize You, looking down from above, at any problem that I have, You, holding the strings, pushing the buttons and taking it all in.
Hallowed be thy name
Holy is the name of the Lord. Respect sets the tone.
Thy kingdom come
Show me the way to your world.
Thy will be done, on earth as it is Heaven.
Manifest your plan here and There, let me be a part of it.
Give us this day our daily bread
Let’s eat.
Forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
Okay, does this really mean I have to live by the standards that I hold everyone else to?
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
I sometimes get lost; please stop me from getting too deep into trouble. If I do get too deep into it, please bail me out.
Amen
Amen
